2. REMEMBER — Deuteronomy 8:2
Opening “Welcome. As we enter this season of Lent, we’re stepping into a time the Church has historically set aside for reflection, repentance, and renewal. Lent isn’t about beating ourselves up—it’s about clearing space so God can do deep work in us. Turn to Joel in the OT.
Read: ‘’ Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way across the desert. He took care of you for 40 years. He caused many troubles to come and to test you. He did that to see if you would trust him. He wanted to know whether you would continue to obey his commands.
Teaching: “One of the greatest spiritual dangers is forgetfulness. When we forget what God has done, we start living out of fear, scarcity, or self‑reliance. Lent calls us to remember the story we’re part of. Psalm 103 says, ‘Forget not all His benefits.’ Remembering is an act of worship.”
Ask:
“What has God done in your life that you’ve forgotten?”
“What story are you living out of right now—fear or redemption?”
Practice for the week: “Write a short list of five ways God has been faithful in the past year.”
